Minestrone soup

Happy Tuesday!
I had a work crock pot party on Monday and decided to make a nice warm soup. The theme is either soups or sandwiches and we each pick a Monday out of the month to bring something to share. I made enough for roughly 20 people. The recipe was simple and easy which being a mom of 2, is exactly what I look for in a recipe. I did add a little to this and obviously had to double it. Garlic salt, onion powder, and ground pepper.

It got great reviews from all who tried it.

Well....it finally arrived my very first BIRCH BOX! It was very exciting to see it on my kitchen table when I got home from work on Friday. I will tell you what I liked the best from the box and please share your experiences with subscription boxes. I really enjoy feedback and ratings of these types of things.

It was like Christmas all over again! I opened it up in a hurry and tried it all on.. First the lotion, which is a beautifully scented, thick lotion perfect for my dried WI hands. It is made by Soap & Paper Factory ($18). Next was the Dr. Lipp Balm which was thick and did not come out very well at first. But once I tried it I was like yes! it is perfect because it has a nice shine to it and it moisturizes. I like how small it is, so it's easy to throw in your pocket ($17). Obliphica Professional Seaberry hair serum was exactly what I need for this time of year. My hair is long, coarse and dry from this -21 degree temps we have in WI. I loved that this smelled like berries, and it was not greasy. It smoothed out my frizz and made my hair glisten ($38). I was a little nervous for Eyeko Fat liquid liner. It looked like a sharpie/marker, but it was so easy to use, and went on perfectly. The tip of it did not move and it stayed on for most of the night... I would say 5 hours ($16). Last but definitely my favorite item was a sample of Catherine Malandrino top notes of pear and black currant. It reminds me of Flower Bomb kind of. It is so romantic and perfect for winter. I love LOVE IT! ($65-$110)

Well... If you have a little spare change from your taxes I recommend signing up for Birch box! Hey why not treat yourself to some amazing products without having to really leave your house to get them. Before you get your first box you customize your wants/needs and skin type on their website. So you can get what you are looking for each month.

Yesterday I pulled up into my driveway and saw a beautiful purple box hanging out of my mailbox. EUREKA!! it was a perfect Monday surprise.

My daughter Brooklyn and I carefully unpacked it and laid out each item on the kitchen table. Reading all the details of the yoga cards, and oils.

Let's take inventory shall we?!

1. Pacifica Sea Foam face cleanser- Smells good, has a clean scent and lathers up nicely.

2. 21 drops- natural essential oil- calming scent and small easy to carry roll on oil

3. Rawxies Brownie- Looks good and don't we all love a brownie?! Hey it's gluten free so yay for that

4. Simply straws- Not going to lie... this is not really my thing but hey I'll try it out. It's a glass straw. (Save the Environment)

5. Valentina's home brewed perfume oil- THIS IS MY FAVORITE ITEM! It smells amazing, large roll on scent stick, It's make in Oregon! (I love OR)

6. Kensington Facial oil- Smells good, and is really good for the skin, I used it last night before bed. My face feels so smooth and free of impurities

Happy 2016

Happy 6th day into the new year! 01/06/16

I had a lovely vacation from work over the holiday break. I was off from 12-24 until 1-04. It was a relaxing week. I spent most of it with family and friends. I feel like an old soul lately. I'm not sure if it's the bitter cold temps or just winter woes. I have been reading non stop and also cooking lots and lots of food. A lot of big crock pot meals so I can freeze it and eat it later.
